The society are subsidising some venues to keep prices reasonable

Please remember that if you have said you are coming, and then can’t make it, you must tell Dave at least 7 days before the event.  Many clubs are now charging for ‘no shows’.  If you don’t give Dave enough notice, you will be responsible for any charge that the Society has to pay as a result.

Hi guys (and girls)

For those of you who weren’t at the AGM two weeks ago, the most important change to the Society is that after very many years as Secretary, Bert Styles has stepped down for a well earned rest from the paperwork and organisation that running a society takes.  Bert will still be attending society meetings, and will be Assistant Secretary to help Dave Reid, who has now taken on the responsibility.

 

I’m sure you will all take the opportunity when you next see him, to thank Bert for his work making sure that we have got to play golf over the years at so many different courses.

 

Best wishes to Steve Gould who is Captain this year, with Derek Howe as Vice-Captain.

Bert's Extra Golf Day

It was good to see 16 brave golfers tee off at Birchwood Park today in Bert's extra special golf day. The weather was good except for about half an hour when it absolutely chucked it down!

Well done to Dave Reid who won on count back from John Goode with 35 points. Also well done to Cliff Riley who won the 'nearest the pin' prize of three extra, extra special golf balls! Wow - what a great prize to win!

See you all at the first meeting of the year on Tuesday 10th March - Venue to be advised.
