A message from the Committee
Hi guys (and girls)
A list of venues for the coming year is now available on the website - see the 2016 Venues tab.
I was asked at the AGM, held two weeks ago, to highlight the following items of note that were discussed at the meeting:-
- Society Chairman - Nick Isom has stepped down from the role of Chairman, due to other commitments, and Bert Styles agreed to take over the role with immediate effect.
- Society Captain - Best wishes to Derek Howe who is Captain this year.
- Slow Play - The AGM discussed the increasing incidents of slow play. All members of the society are reminded that it is the responsibility of each group to keep up with the group in front, and not just to keep in front of the group behind. If a group falls more than one clear hole behind the group in front of them, they must call the group behind through. All agreed at the AGM that it is unacceptable to fall 2 or 3 holes behind the group in front.
- No shows - Please remember that if you have said you are coming to a society golf day, and then can’t make it, you must tell Dave (the Secretary) at least 7 days before the event. Many clubs are now charging for ‘no shows’. If you don’t give Dave enough notice, you will be responsible for any charge that the Society has to pay as a result.
- Society Subs & monthly meeting format- It was agreed that the subs for the coming year would remain at £25 per member, and the current alternating monthly 'Stableford' and 'Stroke Play' format would continue for the coming year.
